Hail, hail, the gang's all here--off to Beaufort and the big blue sea!

Our 7 day sojourn in beautiful River Dunes is coming to an end.  Our flotilla has reassembled and will head out tomorrow at 10:00 for the Atlantic via the Beaufort Inlet.  We are ready to move on.  Enough of a glamorous marina with a southern plantation feel, of steam showers, Internet, nightly suppers in the "big house" by a roaring fire, while enjoying fine wine and the company of clever mariners from all over, enough of heat and endless power, of warm boats and calm waters.  Time to strike out again for adventure before we get soft and lazy.
Cap'n Glen is looking pretty spiffy after a day on the golf course at Minnesott where green fees were $38.00.  We enjoyed wonderful dinners over the weekend at M&M's in Oriental and at Gary's Downeast Barbecue in Arapahoe.  We love to patronize the local establishments.  Today--Monday-- we took the rental car back to New Bern while Glen did laundry next to a Dollar Store in Alliance or therabouts.  I got a haircut at Supercuts for $12.00, replaced yet another boathook at West Marine, bought an electric kettle at Target, groceries at Harris Teeter, hit the ATM at Bank America, and bought Glen some nav tools at Staples.  We met up with the Andiamo folks, just in from their flying visit to Annapolis and all piled into a big Enterprise van for the trip back to the plantation.  Our share of the car for the week:  $127.00.

We'll definitely return by way of River Dunes next spring.  In the meantime, let us know if you are receiving this blog.  We've been told some of you are having trouble getting access to it.  Hope those issues have been ironed out.

It's warming up.  Should be in the 60's all week.

  1. Wow, that house is gorgeous. Glen looks ready to go. We can't wait to see the next destination and hear about the trip there! Is there a lucky quip for sailors, something akin to break-a-leg? (besides bon voyage, of course)
