Veteran's Day in Georgetown, SC

Glen Nemecek, Vietnam War Vet

Glen and I took a walk into Georgetown, SC, on Veteran's Day and happened on a wonderful small town parade in tribute to their local veterans from WWII, Vietnam, Afghnistan wars.  The whole town turned out and their were numerous bands, Rolling Thunder, lots of colorful vintage cars driven by vintage vets and enthusiastic spectators.

                                                                    World War II Vets
My Dad, Gene Frazier, would have been 90 years old
on Nov. 10.  He was a B-17 pilot in England.

The day was bright and sunny and we enjoyed a chance to stretch our sealegs after the long haul from Oriental for a day and a night.  We slept in, paid our visit to the town, and then shared our dinners--Brunelle had made barbecue, and Sevilla, the first Crockpot meal, a pot roast and delicious pumpkin bread from a Sonoma Williams mix.  The crews of our four boats have become very close and we enjoy our time together over wine and dinner.

On Friday we will once again enter the ICW for a sail to Charleston.  We hope to be there before three to make one of the big bridges before rush hour at four.

Last shot of the parade.  We were impressed by the solemn dedication and discipline displayed by these young people in Jr. ROTC from the various high schools.

Peace, everyone.

Maureen and Glen
